Student of the Month for 2018-2019

SEPTEMBER 

SEPTEMBER STUDENT OF THE MONTH MARGARET “Meg” SAWYER

Margaret “Meg” Sawyer, daughter of Tom and Jolene Sawyer, has been selected as Milford High School’s Student of the Month for September. Meg’s teachers nominated her as an ideal candidate for recognition. This fall, Meg will serve as the president of the Class of 2019, the president of the National Honor Society and a captain of the Girls’ Soccer Team; in addition, she participates in track and field, Model UN, the Spanish Club, Interact and is the student representative on the Administrative Team. She is according to her teacher a “natural born leader who is capable of leading with a style that is relaxed and effective.” Meg was also described as being “a respectful, kind and smart young woman” who “always treats the staff and her peers with courtesy and respect.” Meg was selected from over 850 students for this distinction. MHS thanks Meg for her contributions to the school programs of Milford and wishes her the best for future success.

 MAY STUDENT OF THE MONTH – TODD BIESCHKE

Todd Bieschke, son of Bill and Cathy Bieschke of Milford has been selected as Milford High School’s Student of the Month for May. Todd’s teachers nominated him as an ideal candidate for recognition because of his participation in activities like the state champion We The People team and the last two school plays. Todd also challenges himself both personally and academically through his course work, serves as the president of the National Honor Society and is committed to diversity and inclusion. One of Todd’s teachers described him as “kind and respectful to everyone – teachers and students – and a genuinely warm and caring person.” Another said that he was “just a neat person. He is a blend of serious and silly but never stops being a hard worker.” Todd was selected from over 850 students for this distinction.  MHS thanks Todd for his contributions to the school programs at Milford and wishes him the best for his future success.

APRIL STUDENT OF THE MONTH ANDREW McNEIL 

Andrew McNeil, son of Chris and Terri McNeil of Milford, has been selected as Milford High School’s Student of the month for the month of April. Andrew’s teachers nominated him as an ideal candidate for recognition because of his polite and respectful demeanor, his commitment to Model UN and his overall positive attitude toward education. According to one of his teachers, Andrew is “a  positive person who shows respect to both his teachers and his fellow students.”  Andrew is also a member of Interact and National Honor Society and is a volunteer through both organizations. Andrew was selected from over 850 students for this distinction. MHS thanks Andrew for his contributions to the school programs at Milford and wishes him the best for future success.

MARCH STUDENT OF THE MONTH ENRICO (RICKY) DEBERNARDO

Enrico “Ricky” DeBernardo, son of Michael and Danielle DeBernardo of Milford, has been selected as Milford High School’s Student of the Month for March. Ricky’s teachers nominated him as an ideal candidate for recognition because of his actions as a hard worker, a role model and his outstanding commitment to his educational internship and his all-around positive attitude. One of Ricky’s teachers describes him as being “soft spoken, patient and hardworking and a real positive role model.” Ricky’s ability to reach out to students of all abilities and skills and include them in team work shows what a “great guy he is.” According to those with whom he interns as part of his high school program, Ricky is “a valuable member of his team and has excellent rapport with his co-workers.” He possesses “excellent skills” and takes personal and professional responsibility for his work. Ricky was selected from over 850 students for this distinction. MHS thanks Ricky for his contributions to the school programs at Milford and wishes him the best for future success.

FEBRUARY STUDENT OF THE MONTH NICOLE JUTRAS

 Nicole Jutras, daughter of Carl and Lisa Jutras of Milford, has been selected as Milford High School’s Student of the Month for February. Nicole’s teachers nominated her as an ideal candidate for recognition because she is a polite, respectful, dedicated and hard-working student. According to one of her teachers, “Nicole is just a great all-around person and student. She is a role model to young people and kind to everyone.” Nicole is an active and energetic volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club and is a member of Interact. Nicole is also a motivated student who values educational opportunities and is a valued member of the National Honor Society. Nicole was selected from over 850 students for this distinction. MHS thanks Nicole for her contributions to the school programs at Milford and wishes her the best for future success.

JANUARY

JANUARY STUDENT OF THE MONTH JACK HANRAHAN

Jack Hanrahan, son of Mark and Eva Hanrahan of Milford, has been selected as Milford High School’s Student of the Month for January. Jack’s teachers nominated him as an ideal candidate for recognition because of his positive attitude, work ethic and kindness. One of his teachers said that Jack is a “sensitive, thoughtful and caring young man who is a good friend to all he encounters.” This generosity and caring for other students was also noted by another teacher who said that Jack is a modest young man who does things out of the “kindness of his heart” and never seeks attention for his acts of kindness.  Jack is also a hard-working and motivated student who values educational opportunities, enjoys history and art and is on track to be a NH Scholar. In addition, Jack is an active participant in theatre at the Amato Center. Jack was selected from over 850 students for this distinction. MHS thanks Jack for his contributions to the school programs at Milford and wishes him the best for future success.

DECEMBER STUDENT OF THE MONTH BRIANNAH PHALON

Briannah Phalon, daughter of Philip and Jeannine Phalon, has been selected as Milford High School’s student of the month for December. Briannah’s teachers nominated her as an ideal candidate for recognition. Briannah is a member of the Executive Student Council, an active member of the band and is a volunteer on both the Milford and Mason Fire Departments as a part of the Explorers program. Her teachers said that Briannah is a “wonderful young woman who goes out of her way to help out everywhere and in every way she can.” Briannah was selected from over 850 students for this distinction. MHS thanks Briannah for her contributions to the school programs at Milford and wishes her the best for future success.

NOVEMBER STUDENT OF THE MONTH ANIKA STRELOW

 Anika Strelow, daughter of Matthias and Christine Strelow of Milford, has been selected as Milford High School’s Student of the Month for November. Anika’s teachers nominated her as an ideal candidate for recognition because “her involvement in extracurricular activities and academic achievement make her a prime candidate for the student of the month.” In addition to a challenging course load that includes Honors and AP courses, Anika is a member of the National Honor Society, FBLA, Science Olympiad and the Spanish Club.  Anika is a visible presence in both STEAM courses and extracurricular activities. Anika was selected from over 850 students for this distinction. MHS thanks Anika for her contributions to the school programs of Milford and wishes her the best for her future success.

OCTOBER STUDENT OF THE MONTH SHELBY HOUGHTON

Shelby Houghton, daughter of Lisa Houghton and Bernard Lecuyer, has been selected as Student of the Month for October. Shelby’s teachers nominated her as an ideal candidate for recognition. Shelby brings a positive and energetic approach to her many activities at Milford High School. Shelby is a drum major for the MHS Marching Band and is a leader and active participant in Executive Student Council, planning Freshman Orientation and Spirit Week. In addition, Shelby is a member of the National Honor Society and has served as the student representative to the Principal’s Cabinet. Shelby is, according to her teacher, “just an awesome kid who makes the school a better place.” Shelby was selected from over 850 students for this distinction.
