VIDEO PRODUCTION is a competency-based Career & Technical Education program offered at Milford High School & Applied Technology Center.
 
 
 
Video Production I  1846 
1 Credit  Grades: 9-12
Students in this class will develop basic skills and competencies relating to filmmaking and live broadcast production. These include areas such as camera operation, composition, audio recording, lighting, non-linear editing, camera movement and mounts, copyright law, and more. Social media and internet-based video will also be explored. Students will have access to high-end computers, professional video gear, and the latest Adobe Creative Cloud, industry-standard software – primarily Premiere Pro.

Video Production II  1847 
1 Credit  Grades:10-12
Students wishing to further explore this subject will continue by diving deeper into more advanced levels of those skills studied in Video Production I, with greater emphasis being placed on areas of the workflow and production that most closely adhere to industry workplace requirements. Pre-production work will expand with things such as scripts and storyboards, and additional production elements - including things such as color-grading, audio mixing, Foley, special effects, and advanced encoding will be explored. More sophisticated live broadcast productions will be created, presented, and recorded. Students will be expected to perform well individually and in teams and meet strict deadlines for their project work. Other programs such as Adobe Audition, After-Effects, and Lightroom may be introduced.

Prerequisite: Completion of Video Production I with a grade of “C” or better.
 
Articulation Agreement - successful completion of 2 course sequence results in college credits at Keene State College (may only be used at KSC).
 
Program Assistantships and/or Independent Study opportunities may be available to selected students for credit.
 
 
Video Production III  1848
1 Credit  Grades: 10-12
In addition to those skills learned in Video Production I and II, students will receive expanded training in areas such as blocking and staging, lighting-design, cinematography, ADR, voiceover and radio, audio-editing, film-analysis, screenplay writing, proxy-edits and metadata logging, gimbal use, drone flying, and more. Students will have access to the full Adobe Creative Cloud software suite and must demonstrate a solid proficiency in using dynamic-link between programs. While not mandatory, The expectation is that those who join this class will also have a strong desire to seek out work, or pursue a post-secondary education in a production related field. As schedules allow, individuals in this class will be expected to participate in volunteer work filming school events, sports, or other related school – or outside - activities, and produce quality work that may be shown on Milford Public Access TV (GTM), or other media outlets. By the end of class, each student will have highlights of their work compiled in a “reel” format for archive, distribution, and/or display.
Expectation: Quality Producer / Work Independently and Autonomously
Prerequisite: Completion of Video Production II with a grade of “B” or better. Equipment: It is strongly recommended that each student have their own video camera or DSLR
