Exam (the course Final Exam) and the US Citizenship Test in order to receive a high school diploma.

All course work must be completed, all credits must be earned, and all graduation requirements must be met prior to graduation in order to participate in commencement exercises.
COLLEGE PREPARATION
College entrance requirements vary. Catalogs should be checked carefully for specific admission policies. Following are general guidelines that two-year and four-year colleges often require as a high school program:
Four Year Colleges
English - 4 credits
College Prep Math - 4 or more credits
Science - 3 or more credits
Social Studies - 3 or more credits
World Language - 2-3 credits in the same language
Two Year Colleges/Post Secondary Programs

NEW HAMPSHIRE SCHOLARS PROGRAM
The aim of the NH Scholars program is to ensure that students will graduate better prepared for college and career by exceeding high school graduation requirements and understanding the growing importance of attaining high level skills. The program is based on a partnership between a community's local business leaders and the school district.
Students may choose to be identified as NH Scholars candidates as early as Freshman year. Upon successful completion of NH Scholars requirements, students will receive acknowledgement on their diploma, final transcript, during graduation ceremonies and will be invited to attend the annual statewide “NH Scholars Day” recognition ceremony. Some colleges and universities within New Hampshire offer application fee waivers and/or scholarships to NH Scholars.
Students may enroll in STEM, Arts or traditional options within the NH Scholars program. Please note requirements of each option within the Program of Studies. Registration forms are available in the Student Services office.
PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS
Promotion to the next grade is based upon the number of accumulated credits at the end of the school year. Retained students will be promoted at midyear if they have obtained the necessary credits. However, promotion to senior status mid-year requires an approved plan for satisfying graduation requirements by the end of the academic year.
- Senior Status - Minimum of 18 credits
- Junior Status - Minimum of 11 credits
- Sophomore Status - Minimum of 5 credits

This number is the MHS school code number for identification on College Board exams.
TRANSCRIPTS
Parents for students under the age of 18 must give written permission for the release of school records. The appropriate records release forms may be found on the school website or within the Student Services office.
HONOR ROLL
HIGH HONORS - A student must be full time and obtain no grade less than “A-” in all courses.
HONORS - All grades must be “B-” or above.
Further qualifications for honor roll: A grade of ‘WI” will disqualify the student for the honor roll for the quarter in which a course is dropped. In order to be eligible for honor roll a student must carry a minimum of three credits each semester.
LATIN HONOR SYSTEM
Milford High School recognizes high achieving students by bestowing Latin or “Laude” honors. The Latin Honor System is used to recognize three tiers of achievement in addition to the Valedictorian and Salutatorian. Those at the Summa Cum Laude level will be recognized at the graduation ceremonies and all levels will be recognized via notations on the graduation program and on official transcripts.
The Latin Honor system (Laude System) is used to acknowledge three tiers of accomplishment, namely:

- Cum Laude - “with praise”
- Magna Cum Laude – “with great praise”
- Summa Cum Laude - “with highest praise”
Milford High School will use grade point average cutoffs of 3.5, 3.8 and 4.2 at the time of graduation for each tier respectively. The following system will be used:

- GPA 3.5 to 3.7999 - ‘Cum Laude’
- GPA 3.8 to 4.1999 - ‘Magna Cum Laude’
- GPA 4.2 and above - ‘Summa Cum Laude.’
Class rankings remain in place and will continue to be made available to colleges and scholarship organizations.
GRADING AND RANKING
The student’s grade point average and rank are computed by using the final grade in courses with level designations in their title (i.e., Foundational Preparation or College & Career Preparation) in Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and World Languages. The grade point average is computed using the scale shown below:

FULL TIME STATUS
Students must maintain full time status to participate in school activities, sports, and honor roll. Also, in some cases, students’ qualifications for government programs, such as Social Security benefits, are dependent on full time status.
MINIMUM ENROLLMENT FOR FULL TIME STUDENTS

- Students in Grades 9-10 7.5 credits
- Students in Grade 11 7.0 credits
- Students in Grade 12 6.0 credits
A student must be enrolled in course work for more than 50% of the school day each semester. This equals a minimum of four (4) hours of instructional time every day.
SCHEDULE CHANGES/STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Course changes will be made only during specified time periods and only for sound educational reasons. Students should choose carefully in the spring. Often, during the school year, changes are not possible due to scheduling and staffing limitations. Students are responsible for being aware of the consequences of the academic policies regarding course changes.
GRADES AS A RESULT OF SCHEDULE CHANGES
All course changes should be completed within the first week of each semester. After that point, classes may not be added.
- A grade of WI will be assigned if the course is dropped before 1/4 of the course is completed.
- A grade of WF will be assigned if the course is dropped after 1/4 of the course is completed.

The Student Services office opens every morning at 7:15 am and closes at 3:00 pm. Student appointments with school counselors may be made with Student Services secretaries. Parent appointments may be made in person or by phone at 603-673-4523.
SCHOOL TO CAREER/WORK-BASED LEARNING PROGRAM
School-to-Career at Milford High School & Applied Technology Center is an effort to combine relevant and realistic workforce experiences and academic, classroom based activities. A collaborative effort between the business community and the school, Career Focus Internships and other work-based learning opportunities are available to students. These opportunities prepare students to make knowledgeable career choices and to gain an understanding of a specified industry/profession and general workplace expectations. Students engage in these activities for a specified period of time guided by both a Workplace and Faculty Mentor.
