World Language
The World Language program offers the study of language in the context of culture and global understanding. Using Comprehensible Input (CI), a method in which students are exposed to another language via short stories, students will be presented with a variety of real, fictional, and cultural stories to acquire the language. In addition to CI, the teacher will enhance the class with grammar explanations and grammar drills.
In levels one and two, mastery of core competencies typically would be indicated by a grade of C or better, whereas a grade of B– or better would indicate mastery of core competencies in levels three to five.
It is recommended that college-bound students take a minimum of two levels of the same world language. (Taking world language is not a graduation requirement.)
